Our Nationally recognised Dual Course in Makeup and Beauty Therapy offers the best of both worlds for those who are passionate about makeup and beauty.

Combining key components from the CUA51015 Diploma of Screen and Media (Specialist Make-up Services) and the CUA50115 Diploma of Beauty Therapy, this course will give you the skills and qualification required to forge a career within both the beauty and makeup industries.
This is a practical based course where you will learn makeup skills such as how to style hair, apply specialist make-up for photographic, theatre, period, special effects, film, television and fashion using professional products, as well as learn beauty therapy skills such as hair removal, nail services, facial & body treatments, lash & brow services and massage.

The theory element of the courses will arm you with the latest beauty and makeup industry developments and will provide a foundation for you to run your own freelance business. Within the beauty components of the course you will enjoy access to the latest collections of salon brands to help ensure you know how to use them once you’re working in a professional environment as well as gain an understanding of wellbeing, nutrition and various holistic approaches underpinning modern beauty.

Upon successful completion of the qualification requirements students may have various employment opportunities within the Beauty & Make-up Industry, including salons and spas, television, theatre and film, freelance bridal makeup artist and may be able to apply their acquired skills and knowledge as a qualified Specialist Make-up Artist and Beauty Therapist.

Our exceptional facilities include modern, spacious classrooms equipped with all the professional tools you’ll need to become a skilled makeup artist. Students will be required to purchase a student kit refer to fee schedules.

Our Melbourne CBD, Brisbane and Perth campus training rooms are flooded with plenty of natural light and boast spectacular views of the city while our suburban Peninsula campus is conveniently located for students living close to that area.

By providing you with the opportunity to learn within a relaxed environment fully equipped with everything you need, we make it easy for you to develop the skills and confidence required to flourish within the makeup and beauty industries.

As per the training package, this qualification has no pre-requisites.

In order to qualify for this course, you will be required to complete a pre-training review and either successfully complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy test or be able to provide valid evidence of Year 12 completion.

Special Effects Makeup – Leopard Skin

This varies according to the intake you enrol into. Duration ranges from 63 weeks (Fulltime) Length of the course will increase if interrupted by Public Holidays and School Holidays scheduled by Pragmatic Training.

This course is delivered under a Dynamic Blended Mode. Students are required to allocate approx. 20 hours per week for online learning and practical tasks at home. Please note that minimum and maximum class numbers apply for each course. Class times may vary for operational reasons.

Work Placement

Students will be required to complete 15 hours of Work Placement within a production to meet the training package requirements and to ensure they have gained practical skills and knowledge to work in the industry.

Nationally Recognised Training

Credit Transfer (CT)

Pragmatic Training recognises Qualifications and Statement of Attainments issued by another RTO (Registered Training Organisation), AQF authorised issuing organisation such as University, or authenticated VET transcripts issued by the Registrar.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL assessed on a case by case basis, so it is only available on application. Students will be charged per unit of competency at the cost equal to the tuition fee of the unit(s) of competency.

We know you’re an ambitious bunch and with the CUA51015 Diploma of Screen and Media (Specialist Make-up Services) & SHB50115 Diploma of Beauty Therapy under your belt you may find you want to keep on learning. If so, you could consider studying for a Bachelor of Creative Arts and or Bachelor of Health Science (Dermal Therapies).
